7 Ways to detox
Nowadays we are exposed to many toxins, like pesticides, herbicides and fungicides, water and air pollution, hormones, mercury, arsenic and other heavy metals in our food, etc. Our present unhealthy life circumstances actually require us to do a detox in a holistic manner.
Below is a list of different ways to lower the toxic levels in your body, by either using one or any combination. For an optimal result it is sensible to repeat regularly, for example each season and at least once a year.
- Eat lots of dark coloured vegetables, herbs and algae:
Coriander (cilantro), parsley, alfalfa, chlorella (a blue-green algae) are powerful binders of chemicals and heavy metals, so these can leave your body in a natural way.
- Fasting with lemon water, cayenne pepper and maple syrup:
This is a radical, but very effective way to relieve your gastro-intestinal system and excrete toxicity. A period of 3-7 days, 3-4 times a year is sufficient. Use as much lemons as possible, with just enough maple syrup to make it tasty. Drink as much as you like during the day.
Juicing give the best result if je just drink fresh, organic vegetable and fruit juices during 3-14 days. Kale, celery, cucumber, beetroots, carrots, lettuce, ginger, and lemon are execellent for neutralizing the acidity in the body, elevate nutrition levels and remove undesirable substances from the body. Prepare the juices yourself rather than buying them ready made!
- Use an enema
Every substance going in through our mouth, goes through our bowels, where our body absorbs nutrients as well as waste. By flushing the bowels regularly a clean and healthy environment is created.
- Drink enough water, eat ripe fruit, green leafy vegetables and vegetable juices:
Only eat fruit and/or vegetable juice as breakfast, as much as you like. Eat as much fruit and juices as you like for lunch, followed by a large, colorful salad with a dressing without dairy products. Eat more fruit for dinner if possible, followed by a large salad containing as many vegetables as you want. You can also eat a yam (sweet potato) or red/purple potatoes and herbs with the salad. Heavy nutrients, like meat, dairy products, beans and even some grains slow down or stop the detoxing process.
It’s important that your body detoxes in a natural way through sweating. When in motion (sports, walking biking) toxins are removed via the pores in the skin. Try to sweat at least 15 minutes a day.
- Enough sleep:
Sleep ensures that the body goes into a cleaning and regeneration mode. Without adequate sleep the organs don’t detox enough. Try to sleep 7-9 hours every night in a dark, quiet environment for best results.
To support the above 7 steps it is important to have plenty to drink, preferably mineralized, purified water.
